THE MUSIC MINISTRY
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Music groups at First Presbyterian Church sing first and foremost to the glory of God and for the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ. We truly endeavor to work for excellence while also being open and accepting of all who wish to join us - music readers and non-readers alike. We also find that making music binds us together and heals our wounds in marvelous ways. Rehearsals are marked by a delightful combination of hard work, good fellowship, and much laughter.

The Chancel Choir
THE CHANCEL CHOIR

THE CHANCEL CHOIR sings each week at the 11 A.M. worship service. As the choir for the more traditional service, the Chancel Choir sings varied music from all periods of music history. The focus, however, is to sing fresh music from recent composers, both simple and more challenging. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:30 P.M. to 9 P.M. New members are always welcomed without audition. The choir is directed by Amy Fennell and accompanied on the pipe organ by Robert Glick.

SOUNDS OF PRAISE
This newly formed vocal ensemble is for adults and high school youth who enjoy singing more contemporary styles of music. This group sings in church once each month and rehearses every Sunday from 5:30-6:30. Contact Amy Fennell if you would like to be a part of this group (amy@firstpresgwdsc.org).

Chancel Bells
Any adult church member is eligible to play in this five octave handbell choir. The choir meets from 7:30-8:30pm on Thursday.

HANDBELL GROUPS and INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLES are formed regularly to enrich worship services and provide music for other church functions.

The SUNDAYS @ FOUR RECITAL SERIES provides frequent hour-long concerts except in the summertime. The area's finest musicians are brought in for this free concert series with special emphasis given to more unusual combinations of musicians. In the past, the series has featured a percussion ensemble, harp duo, soprano saxophone and piano, solo guitar, vocal ensembles, organ recitals, hymn festivals, massed choir festivals, etc. Click Here for the 2007-2008 Season Schedule
