OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES
MEG'S HOUSE
MEG'S House provides temporary shelter and help for abused women and their
children from McCormick, Edgefield, Greenwood and Saluda Counties. Emotional
and physical support are provided, along with individual and group counseling,
assistance with legal protection, housing, food, medical aid and referral
to other social service agencies. Church members provide volunteer help. Budgeted:
$2,000.00
BOWERS-RODGERS HOME
The Bowers-Rodgers Home provides 24-hour emergency shelter for abused, abandoned and
neglected children ranging in age from birth to 17 years. Maximum capacity
of the home, as licensed by DSS is nineteen. Children usually stay at
the Home for 30 to 90 days. Since it was established in 1990, Bowers-Rodgers
Home has provided to over 100 children a year a safe and loving environment
until permanent placement can be made. Church members serve as volunteers.

PALS
Greenwood PALS Mentors is a Greenwood County agency that provides one-to-one
relationships for single-parent youth through adult volunteers. The goal of this big-brother,
big-sister type program is to ensure qualities such as Praise, Assurance, Love, and Security
by means of a bonded friendship. PALS serves both males and females, ages 5 to 17 years old.
There is an ever continuing and growing need for senior PAL mentors, adult volunteers who
will give of themselves. Budgeted: $500.00
Using volunteer help, this agency provides homes for people who live in substandard
conditions and cannot afford to improve their living conditions through conventional
means. Recipients are chosen through a selection process and must contribute
500 hours of "sweat equity" in the construction of their home. The Greenwood
program was started in 1988. Church members have served on the Board of Directors.

HOSPICE CARE OF THE PIEDMONT
provides care and services to the terminally ill of the community, by helping
families cope with the tragedy of serious illness in their homes. Church members
serve as volunteers. Budgeted: $500.00
GREENWOOD LITERACY PROGRAM
Provides literacy training to area adults who cannot read or are functionally
illiterate. Funds are used to obtain books and lesson materials. Budgeted:
$250.00
CHAPLAINCY - LAW ENFORCEMENT
Provides funds for a weekly Bible study for inmates of the Greenwood Detention
Center, and a minister who rides a night shift with Greenwood County Deputies
at least once per week. The minister is on call for the Sheriff's Office
to provide counseling and chaplain services for the Sheriff's Office staff
and unchurched members of the community when needed. Budgeted $1,000.00
REFUGEE FAMILY SUPPORT
Provides funds to purchase required textbooks for college age children in the
Dautovic family, the Bosnian refugees who were assisted in resettlement by this congregation. Budgeted: $500.00
ANGEL TREE CAMP
Provides children served by the Angel Tree Program a Christian camping experience during a special session at Camp Fellowship.
Budgeted: $1,000.00
EMERGENCY FUND
Used to provide support in emergency situations and to other charities not covered
under the categories listed above. At the discretion of the Outreach Committee, this fund is available for quick response to those emergencies,
such as natural disasters, that inevitably arise during the year. Budgeted: $3,750.00
