Every year we join with other Presbyterian churches in a variety of special
offerings to help meet the needs of folks right here in Greenwood and around
the world. These offerings include:
WITNESS SEASON OFFERING
is taken the first Sunday in February. This, too, is a denomination wide
offering which helps support Presbyterian missionaries in carrying out Christ's
Great Commission "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING offering is taken in most Christian churches
on Easter Sunday. This money goes to areas in need of disaster relief. It
helps provide shelter, food and clothing to those who have lost everything
due to natural disasters or war.
The MOTHER'S DAY offering is collected in Presbyterian churches in
South Carolina to benefit the South Carolina Presbyterian Homes. These funds
are used for residents who have exhausted all of their funds and enable them
to stay in Presbyterian Home until their death.
The FATHER'S DAY offering is collected in the churches of Trinity
Presbytery and supports the migrant ministry of this Presbytery.
THORNWELL OFFERING is taken on the Sunday before Thanksgiving to
help support Thornwell Home in Clinton. Thornwell Home provides an excellent
home and education for children who have been removed from their families.
The JOY GIFT is taken on the second Sunday in December and is a denomination
wide offering for retired ministers and their families who are facing financial
hardship.
The PENTECOST offering is taken on Pentecost Sunday. Forty percent
of this offering is kept locally for use with children at risk in our community,
and 60% is used by the General Assembly Council for ministries with youth.
Young Adult Volunteers, and Child Advocacy Ministries.
