Rev. Dr. David L. Mayo
Senior Pastor
Dr. David Lee Mayo is the 14th Senior pastor in the 121
year history of First Presbyterian Church. He grew up on the coast in Virginia and
was educated at Emmanuel College, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and the University of Pittsburgh.
Before coming to Greenwood, Dave served for 12 years as the Senior Pastor of the Canonsburg Presbyterian Church.
He also taught as an Adjunct Professor at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary for three years.
Throughout the past two decades Dave has served as president, chairperson or member of numerous public and Church
related boards and committees. He and his wife, Loretta, have two daughters, Becky and Lindsay. In addition
to spending time with his family and traveling, Dave enjoys reading, golf and following college sports.

Rev. Dr. John Bacot
Interim Pastor of Visitation
John Bacot serves as the Interim Pastor of Visitation. His primary
responsibility is to visit First Presbyterian Church members in the hospitals, retirement
homes and at home. John is also serving in congregational worship when needed and is
available for pastoral emergencies. He is honorable retired from PCUSA after 37 years.
Since retirement in 2005, he has served 4 churches is Trinity Presbytery in an interim
capacity. John is a graduate of The Citadel, Columbia Seminary and McCormick Seminary.
He and his wife, Marion (Mishie), have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.

Rev. Dr. Chuck Moates
Pastor of Congregational Ministries
Chuck Moates serves as the Pastor of Congregational Ministries with primary responsibilities
in the areas of outreach, senior adults and missions. He and his wife, Alice-Ann, moved
to Greenwood after living and working in the Atlanta area for a number of years where he served the Smoke
Rise Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, GA as administrator and associate pastor. Chuck is an ordained
Baptist minister who holds degrees from Florida State University, West Georgia University, Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary and Erskine Seminary. Chuck and Alice-Ann have two children, David and
Laura and two granddaughters, Madison and Myer.

Peggy Hammett
Director of Christian Education
Peggy Hammett was born in Aiken, South Carolina and moved to
Greenwood as a child. She graduated from Lander College where she earned
a degree in English and Secondary Education. A fter teaching in the
public schools for several years, she returned to school and took several
courses in religion, communication, and counseling. In 1994 she was
called by First Presbyterian Church to serve as their Director of Stephen
Ministry. In 1996 she was called to serve as full time Director of Christian
Education. She enjoys writing and has had several articles featured
in various education publications. In her spare time she enjoys reading,
teaching wedding etiquette, and gourmet cooking. She has been a wedding
director for 14 years. She is married and has two grown children.

Brad Griggs
Associate for Adult Christian Education
Brad Griggs joined the staff of First Presbyterian as Associate for Adult
Christian Education in 2010. He coordinates adult Sunday schools, marriage and parenting
enrichment classes, as well as the January Kaleidoscope program and other lecture series at
the church. He is also an instructor of Biology at the Piedmont Tech. His educational
background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Ph.D. in Genetics,
both from Clemson. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity. Brad is married and
has a daughter.

Amy Q. Fennell
Director of Music Ministries
Amy Q. Fennell is the Director of Music Ministries at First
Presbyterian Church. Amy directs choirs and handbell ensembles for children, youth and
adults. She works with the staff, the Music Committee and the Worship Committee to plan
meaningful worship services and enhance the life of the church through song. Amy earned
a Masters in Music Education from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor's in
Music Education from Erskine College. Before her full time work at First Presbyterian
Church, Amy taught music at the elementary and middle school levels. She has also served
as an adjunct professor at Presbyterian College and Erskine College. Amy and her husband,
Josh, are parents to Laura Margaret, Charlie and Adam.

Nickie Murphy
Music Associate
Nickie Murphy came to Greenwood, South Carolina, from Birmingham, Alabama.
She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Business
Education and a minor in English. She studied voice at Samford University in Birmingham,
at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and privately in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
She was a soloist in the Chancel Choirs of First United Methodist Church of Birmingham
and First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles and in the Louisiana Choral Foundation.
She directed adult, youth, and children's handbells for many years at First United
Methodist Church of Birmingham and at First United Methodist Church of Lake Charles,
and she is a former Chair of the Central Alabama American Guild of English Handbell
Ringers. Nickie is a licensed Kindermusik educator and teaches classes at Ms. Susan's
School of Music in Greenwood. She sings in the Chancel Choir and the Greenwood Festival
Chorale, and she rings in the Chancel Bells and Emerald Bells. Nickie and her husband,
Fred, have two children - Brian Murphy of Birmingham, Alabama, and Laura Murphy of
Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Rev. Robert P. Glick
Teaching Pastor and Organist
The Reverend Robert P. Glick has served First Presbyterian Church
since 1990. He has been the primary instrumentalist and served as Minister of
Music. Bob is also Associate Professor of Worship and Church Music at
Erskine Theological Seminary, as well as the Director of the Master
of Church Music Degree Program. He also serves on the faculty of Erskine
College and Lander University. Bob graduated from Lebanon Valley College
with a B.S. in Music Education and holds the Master of Sacred Music
Degree from Southern Methodist University. He is an ordained Presbyterian
Minister with a Master of Divinity Degree from Erskine Seminary. He
has served as the full time Minister of Music for churches in Pennsylvania
and South Carolina. In addition to his Musical talents, Bob also shares
his teaching and occasionally preaching gifts with First Presbyterian
Church.

Beth Bell
Interim Director of Youth Ministries
Beth Bell is the Interim Director of Youth Ministries at First
Presbyterian. She has been a member of First Pres for 25 years. She has been actively
involved in the children's and youth programs of the church for as many years. She is
currently pursuing a degree in Elementary Education from Lander University and will
graduate in April 2012. She is married to John and they have 3 children, Tucker, Dawson and Ali.

Martha Ann Davis
Director of Noah's Ark Preschool
Martha Ann Davis is the Director of Noah's Ark Preschool at
First Presbyterian. She is a Greenwood native, and she graduated from Clemson University
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree in
Elementary Education. She retired in June 2010, after having taught in the public school
system for thirty-four years. The majority of her experience was in Kindergarten and
first grade, but she worked for four years with first through fifth graders in the
HOSTS program that paired community volunteers with students. She and her husband,
Tommy, have two daughters, Anna Blair and Caroline. She enjoys cooking, entertaining,
reading, gardening and spending time with her family.
