Wednesday Night

Legoz (4 & 5 year olds) Wednesday 5:00-7:00

What is Legoz?
The Legoz program is the “building Blocks” to LOGOS. The Legoz curriculum was written and developed by our former DCE and parents. The program is for four and five year old children and classes are limited to 25. It consists of a Bible story, a craft to reinforce the story, music (movement and song to reinforce the story), and dinner together. Legoz meets each Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00. Registration is necessary.
Course of Study for LEGOZ
The curriculum for LEGOZ will be basic Bible stories that we all are familiar with. There will be some memorization through repetition (the Lord’s Prayer will begin each session, Bible verses will be repeated each time, etc.) The stories will include many of the following: The Creation, Noah’s Ark, Joseph and the coat, Daniel and the lions, David as a shepherd boy, David and Goliath, John the Baptist, birth of Jesus, the story of the lost sheep, Jesus walks on water, Jesus feeds the 5,000, the prodigal son, the good Samaritan, the Easter story, etc. Also, worship skills will be taught (in preparation to staying in the worship service), baptism, communion preparation, advent explanation, etc. All of these will be taught on a pre-school level and the hope is that the children will build their knowledge each year.

LOGOS (grades 1 through 5) Wednesday 5:00 – 7:00

What is LOGOS?

LOGOS is a mid-week program for grades 1 through 5. We meet on Wednesday evenings from 5:00-7:00. The program consists of Bible study, music, recreation and crafts and dinner. One of the goals of the program (besides the obvious growth of knowledge) is for the children to develop meaningful relationships with adults in the church. It is staffed entirely by parent volunteers who teach Bible, play games, sing with and cook meals. LOGOS registration forms will be mailed to members and those who participated last year. If you know of others outside our church who might be interested in the program, just call the church office. Registration is necessary.
LOGOS was begun at First Presbyterian Church in 1992 and has been an active supplement to the Christian Education program since that time. The program provides an opportunity to explore one’s identity in a Christian environment.
There are four main parts of the LOGOS program They are: Bible Study, recreation, music, and family dinner time. Each part makes up the whole as adults and children become friends and are drawn into active participation.
The purposes of the LOGOS program are:

To nurture the understanding and desire in young people to profess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord;
To develop intelligent, active, and loyal membership and leadership in the Church;
To give worthwhile study, wholesome recreation and opportunities for service, all bound up in true Christian fellowship; and
To develop the kind of Christians who are able and willing to communicate their faith and strive to do God’s will in building God’s Kingdom in the world.
